Betty Schmidt
A native Oregonian, I lived in Rome, Italy from 1982 -1992 as an English Language teacher, a wife and mother.
My language training includes completion of the program in Italian Language at La Societa
Dante Aleghieri in Rome in 1983.
My unique experience as part of a Roman family (my husband's) enabled me to fully participate in the life there, logically increased my vocabulary and understanding of the Italian language.
During the ten years I spent in Rome, I had varied teaching experiences ranging from large classrooms to private, small groups.
Upon my return to San Francisco in 1992 I continued to use my fluent Italian both in my professional life, and at home with my Italian family.
Since moving home to Portland, OR in 2000, I have been tutoring Italian privately and teaching Community Education classes in conversational Italian at Portland Community College. I find myself to be a natural teacher, and my classes are filled on a regular basis.
